| Q. | What is the difference between buying a timeshare from the developer versus buying one on the resale market? |
| A. |
When you buy from a developer, you are likely to hear a high-pressure sales pitch and pay a premium price, with no opportunity to explore alternatives. As an NTOA member, you can have dedicated access to representatives of the nation’s most reputable licensed resellers, saving 60-80% off the original developer’s price. |
| Q. | What is the difference between FIXED weeks versus POINTS? |
| A. |
With fixed weeks, you purchase seven days of specific ownership: X unit in X building, in X week of X month. That unit is yours for that week, but you cannot split up the week. With points, you have flexibility in that you can split your week between one property and another. The NTOA can help you get the maximum value from your timeshare property, whether you are working with points or fixed weeks. |
| Q. | What is the difference between buying a timeshare in the United States versus out of the country? |
| A. |
When you are buying an international timeshare, it is very hard to transfer deeds from one owner to another. When you have a unit in the U.S., it is much easier to resell. The NTOA can help you to find a reputable and affordable attorney or closing company to represent you in any state. We recommend that you exchange, rather than buy, timeshare weeks out of the country. |
